Welcome!

Deborah Milledge is a contralto proud to follow the great tradition of such fine singers as Clara Butt, Louise Kirkby Lunn, Muriel Brunskill and Kathleen Ferrier.

Born on the south coast of England, like Clara Butt, she has spent most of her adult life in Lancashire and Cumbria in England's North-West, well-spring of fine singers. Deborah's first singing teacher was Lancastrian soprano,  Joan Clark. Other inspiration came from singing teachers Maureen Lehane, Caroline Crawshaw and Valerie Heath-Davies, and all-around musical wizards Marilyn Baker, from whom Deborah acquired clarinet skills and broad horizons, and organist, pianist, conductor and composer Anthony Milledge, who was Deborah’s second husband.

A teacher as well as a performer, she delights in sharing the skills necessary for confident expression using one's own unique voice.
