Deborah Milledge has many years’ experience of teaching singing and coaching singers from novice to professional, of any age and across a wide range of styles, classical to contemporary including rock. Her teaching is soundly based on her deep technical understanding of the human voice, together with a passion for all kinds of vocal expression and communication.
She is an established singing teacher working with students at several schools in South Cumbria, and has a busy private teaching practice. Her pupils have achieved many successes in grade exams, auditions and music festivals.
A particular area of Deborah's interest is the cultivation of safe singing for developing voices. Informed teaching ensures no damage to the voice while forming healthy habits for lifelong expressive singing, whatever your preferred style.
She has helped singers prepare short-term for particular projects: TV and college auditions, public and private performances.
She is musical director of the Ghyll Singers ladies’ choir in Ulverston, Barrow Male Voice Choir (Barrow-in-Furness) and Ulverston Choral Society, and founded Barrow Posh Choir, which she directs at North West Music Academy in September 2023.
Deborah's open classical performance initiative, Limelight, provides opportunities for all classical musicians and audience to develop their performance skills and appreciation of music-making.
